Building Healthy Bones for a Lifetime

With osteoporosis affecting 1 in 5 women aged 65 years+ and 1 in 3 adults 50 years+ dying within 12 months of suffering a hip fracture, it’s vital to include bone health as a daily part of our lives.

World Osteoporosis Day (20 October) happens each year with the aim of raising global awareness about the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is a common, chronic long-term disease causing bones to become weak and fragile.

With osteoporosis you are more likely to break (fracture) your bones easily – even as a result of a minor fall, a bump, a sneeze, or a sudden movement. Fractures caused by osteoporosis can be life-threatening and a major cause of pain and long-term disability.

Whilst there is no cure for osteoporosis, symptoms of the disease can be managed with lifestyle changes and medication. Check out our new blog Health for Life – Building healthy bones for a lifetime to provide tips and tools on how to improve bone health and help protect against osteoporosis.
