Chicken San Choy Bau

Looking for an easy and delicious chicken dish? You'll love our chicken san choy bau recipe! This dish is simple to make and perfect for a quick weeknight meal.


  • 500 g chicken mince
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • A knob of ginger, finely chopped
  • 6-8 button mushrooms, finally chopped
  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • 1 zucchini, grated
  • Olive or sesame oil
  • Sweet soy sauce, oyster sauce, lite soy sauce
  • Iceberg lettuce leaves, to serve


  1. Sautee the onion, ginger, garlic and mushrooms for a few minutes in oil.
  2. Add the carrot and zucchini and cook a few more minutes.
  3. Add 500 g chicken mince, (breaking it up) and cook a few minutes.
  4. Add 1 tbl each of oyster sauce, sweet soy sauce and light soy sauce (or to taste).
  5. Wrap in iceberg lettuce leaves and enjoy!

You could also add bean sprouts to the mix, use tacos instead of lettuce leaves and try using hoisin, plum or sweet chilli sauces.
